Rottendog replacement boards “should” be compatible with the same roms I burn for OEM boards. However when Rottendog is involved, there seems to be an increase in having trouble getting roms working.
Depending on the title and which size roms are used, you need to set the jumpers J4 OR J5 accordingly so it knows what size chip is installed to read them properly.
I believe from the factory, there are both jumpers installed. You should be removing one of them depending on which title you are installing, and SHOULD NOT USE WITH BOTH JUMPERS INSTALLED.
They refer to it as a 0 ohm resistor, but a small jumper wire can be used instead if the board it set to the wrong thing when you get it.
Option 1:
If you are installing a chip in a game that uses a single 27C512 (64K) rom (Comparable to only having a CPU chip at C5), you want to remove jumper J4 and have jumper J5 installed.
Batman Forever
Baywatch
Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein
Hook
Jurassic Park
Last Action Hero
Lethal Weapon 3
Maverick
Rocky And Bullwinkle
Star Trek 25th Anniversary
Star Wars
Tales From The Crypt
The Who’s Tommy
WWF Wrestlemania
Option 2:
If you are installing in a game that uses smaller roms at B5 (27C128) AND C5 (27C256), then you want to remove Jumper J5, and J4 installed.
Back To The Future
Batman
Checkpoint
ABC Monday Night Football
Phantom Of The Opera
The Simpsons
TMNT
Time Machine
These chip sizes are referring to the original games rom image size(s). This DOES NOT APPLY if roms are burned multiple times to fill a larger chip. For example for TMNT jumper setting would still need option 2, even if you end up with 2 27C512 chips (B5 27C128*4=27C512 and C5 27C256*2=27C512.
