Eprom Install Instructions_Generic

Thank you for your purchase!

In case you are not familiar with upgrading your board…here are some instructions.
This is a generic set of instructions, and is not game specific, so I hope to be adding some more detailed instructions by game/system soon.

Do NOT attempt to remove or install any roms while the machine is powered on.

I suggest replacing 1 chip at a time to avoid getting confused.  If you don’t have an Eprom puller, I find it best to use a good size flathead screwdriver and slowly work under the chip (between the chip and the socket) and twist and lift a little…work your way down the chip this way slowly.  Be very careful NOT to get the screwdriver between the board and the socket, or you will damage the socket and/or board.

DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE ORIENTATION OF THE LABEL OR TEXT ON THE CHIP
(as this may be different depending on who made the chip)…

YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION TO THE “NOTCH” ON THE ONE SIDE OF THE CHIP.
(Even if the label ends up being upside down…the notch indicates pin “1” of the chip).   Some PCBs will have a notch drawn on them as well, the socket may have a notch to help you, or another indication like a 1 or an arrow pointing to pin 1.  Make sure the notch is oriented correctly.

If you plug a chip in backwards it WILL fry it and possibly the board too with excessive heat.  When plugging chips in, be very careful and use SLOW even pressure to make sure you do not bend or break any pins on the chip…Do not force them into place…you may need to position / slightly bend  the pins to match the socket alignment before inserting.

Once all chips have been replaced, and you are sure they are seated properly, you may now power on and test the game.

I will soon be adding more instructions and more videos to my website and YouTube…But for now, here are some quick example videos.
The install procedure is very similar, but your chip locations may different.
